| Administration history: | "Das Kantonsspital erbringt in Sarnen stationäre und ambulante Spitalleistungen, insbesondere der Grundversorgung. Es führt folgende Abteilungen: Innere Medizin, Chirurgie, Gynäkologie/Geburtshilfe, Anästhesie und Psychiatrie." (Staatskalender 2010 bis 2014)
Das Kantonsspital war bis 1999 dem Gewerbe- und Fürsorgedepartement unterstellt. Seit 1999 ist es an das Finanzdepartement angegliedert. Laut Artikel 2 der Spitalverordnung (Stand 01.01.2013) ist das Kantonsspital eine öffentlich-rechtliche Anstalt ohne eigene Rechtspersönlichkeit. Der Kantonsrat übt im Rahmen des Gesundheitsgesetzes die Oberaufsicht über das Kantonsspital aus. |
